It is one of the most popular fort of Goa . Down the fort you have a beautiful beach and you can see a stunning sunset. Opposite you have a beautiful beach with river sal and down side Arabian sea. The cool sea breeze will refresh you.
Back side of the fort is covered with beautiful mountain and coconut trees.

HISTORY OF FORT 

They had a advantage because of the forts strategic location 
Because of Arabia sea and river Sal.
The fort was built by the order of chhatrapati shivaji's order in 17 century. He wanted to build this fort before his death as he's last wish.

Later it was captured by Portuguese and side of that they Build custom for the their stay. 
Down side of the fort in 1958 there were mining
activities. But after few years all the activities stopped and the fort slowly slowly started getting down.

Republic day Independence day and Goa liberation day is celebrated here.
Offices from Goa architecture comes to celebrate on this auspicious days.
On shiv jayanti's the rally is conducted and it begins from here after the lighting of the lamp with shivaji's statu .




The Architecture of Betul Fort
In southern Goa, Betul is a small seaside region. Maharaj Shivaji built the fort in the 17th century. However, the fort was taken over by the Portuguese, who held it until Goa gained independence. It has now been designated as a protected monument. The fort bastion and cannon can be found on the fort. It was originally constructed to attack Portuguese trade routes in order to destabilize colonial power in India.
