HISTORY OF CHAPORA FORT.
The present fort was built in 1717 . The fortress was mainly erected to guard against the Hindu raiders. It was ruled for many decades and was also besieged two times by bonsle in 1739.In 1741 it was occupied by the Portuguese, and was reconstructed during the Portuguese period. The Portuguese rulers added tunnels and bastions. In the fort, there was a church dedicated to St. Anthony which appears to be disappeared and only a few signs are exist.

MY EXPERIENCE TO THE FORT.
The fort sits on a prominent position which commands view on all sides . The fort has an outline of high slops. I personally felt that the fort is perfect for photography. It is a place where you can find peace. The winds blowing from all sides. It is also a good place for tracking, as we had to walk up long to reach the fort. I was impressed to see that the locals gets a lesser fee for parking. The entrance gate is small and narrow. The red Laterite stones stand strong facing the gushing winds and heavy rain. The Laterite Boundary walls are clearly visible from the base. It is a must to visit the chapora fort, Bardez Goa.
